August 21, 2015 - On Thursday evening, August 20, 2015 at about 10:40 P.M. John Pool, 68, of Mariposa was driving a 1986 VW Micro-bus westbound on Harris Road and went off of the roadway and down a steep embankment while traversing a curve in the road.
The VW Micro-bus overturned onto the roof and caught on fire, causing a three to five acre wildfire.
Mariposa County Fire and CAL FIRE responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
Mr. Pool sustained fatal injures as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP reports the accident is still under investigation and it is not known if drugs or alcohol are a factor to this collision.
