Pile Burning Workshop
January 11, 2023 – MARIPOSA, CA - The University of California Cooperative Extension invites community members to a 2-part pile burning workshop to learn how to safely construct, prepare, and burn piles. A free, online Zoom webinar will be held on Tuesday, January 31st, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The webinar will cover the fundamentals of pile burning, including safety and liability considerations, weather considerations to minimize the risk of escape, and navigating the permitting process. Following the online webinar, there will be in-person field demonstrations for gaining hands-on skills and learning more about burn planning and permitting with the local area. Attendance for in-person field demonstrations will cost $10. Locations for field demonstrations are yet to be determined and will be based on demand from local areas.
The goal of this workshop is to provide participants, whether they have been burning piles for years or are just getting started, an opportunity to learn about how to safely reduce fire risk around their homes by removing brush and woody debris.
