January 17, 2023 – The Mariposa County Unified School District reported the following information on school delays and other weather related road issues.  

On Tuesday January 17, 2023, ALL MCUSD School Sites will observe a 2-hour class and bus late start schedule. This will allow for our county agencies to continue to address local road issues and for commuters and school buses to route around any existing detours during daylight hours, community safety as always is our first priority.

Hwy 140 is currently closed from Bear Creek Bridge to Cedar Lodge.

Jerseydale students will need to be brought via car to their closest stop as buses are not being allowed on Jerseydale Road and portions of Triangle Road.

Please check state and local county road conditions for other closures and contact your school site if you are unable to get your child to school.

We will update this information as we are notified.

Also, due to the closure of Hwy 140 from Bear Creek Bridge to Cedar lodge, on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the District has made several classrooms available for those students who attend El Portal Elementary and reside in the Midpines area. MCHS classrooms #4 & 5 will be available for El Portal Elementary students living on the Mariposa side of the road closure. Transportation for Midpines students to the high school will be available on Bus Route #7 and will follow a 2-hour delay.

MCHS students who reside in El Portal and will not be able to attend classes in Mariposa due to the Hwy 140 road closure, may access the internet at the El Portal Elementary School.

For YVS and EP families who normally participate in school meal services, we are working to provide meals, but are unaware of when that will happen due to road conditions so, please bring lunches/snacks from home, just in case.
