The original music of San Francisco’s Baraka Moon is a unique and vibrant mix of Qawaali Sufi Trance Songs, Indian, Middle Eastern and African Drum, Harmonium, Guitar, Percussion and the Aboriginal Austrailian Digeridoo, featuring virtuoso musicians from 3 distinct cultures – USA, Pakistan, and the UK - creating a performance, the likes of which, has never been seen or heard in Mariposa before. The Roger Perry Band
The Roger Perry Band has been influenced by disparent music styles such as, rock, blues, real country, reggae, poly-rhythmic jazz and folk, and by various artists – from Leonard Cohen to John Coltrane, Miles Davis to Frank Zappa, and including Elvis and Johnny Cash - make Fresno music icon, Roger Perry, difficult to easily catagorize, but extremely entertaining none the less. With a singing voice that’s been likened to Roy Orbison and the guitar playing skills of Chet Atkins, Perry is a formitable talent on his own, and surrounded by the seasoned professionals – known regionally, nationally, and internationally – that make up his band, should make for an even more powerhouse performance. All performances begin at 7 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park, located on Hwy. 140, between 4th and 5th Streets, in historic downtown Mariposa, CA. Free parking on 5th Street along the Creek Walkway to the Park, also providing handicapped access.
The shows are free to the public – tips for the performers will be solicited, encouraged, and appreciated.
