Continues on SR-140 Roadway Could Fully Reopen Jan. 28
Update Monday Morning: Caltrans reports all lanes are now open.
January 28, 2023 - MARIPOSA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues to conduct one-way traffic control around the clock so motorists can travel along State Route 140 between Midpines and El Portal.
Crews have made safe, fast progress clearing a rockslide that occurred on Sunday, January 15, 2023, and temporarily closed State Route 140 near Briceburg in Mariposa County.
One-way traffic control currently is in place 24 hours a day through the area. There is no limit to vehicle type. Motorists are advised to expect delays.
Both directions of Route 140 could be reopened the afternoon of Saturday, January 28, 2023, far sooner than the initial mid-February estimate. This is subject to weather, traffic incidents, availability of equipment and/or material, and construction-related issues.
