February 1, 2023 - CLOVIS, CA. –The Sierra National Forest (SNF) is requesting public input for the California 2023 Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Grants and Cooperative Agreements Program application cycle. An important part of the grant process is gathering input or project ideas from members of the public, individuals, and organizations, to be included in the 2023 submission for 2024 calendar year. This feedback will be considered in development of the preliminary grant applications and as final applications are prepared.

To review and comment on application proposals drafted by the Sierra National Forest, please go to this link: 2024 State Off-Road Vehicle (OHV) grant funding.pdf. Current application proposals reflect needs informed by prior years; upcoming projects being planned.

Written comments may be submitted beginning Wednesday, January 31, 2023, to: Sierra National Forest, Attn: Kevin Woods, 1600 Tollhouse Road, Clovis, CA 93611 or email kevin.woods@usda.gov. Comments regarding the OHV funding proposal should be received by end of day Friday, February 24, 2023.

On Thursday February 23, 2023, the SNF will host a virtual open house on Microsoft Teams, between 530 and 630 p.m. to allow for public review and comment on the preliminary 2024 grant cycle application(s). Feedback from the meeting and the public comment period will be considered in the development of preliminary grant application(s) being sent to the State of California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division. 2024 Grant Cycle – Important Dates to remember:

  • January 9, 2023 - Grant application process begins – Application materials are available via the OHMVR Division’s website
  • March 6, 2023 - Preliminary applications are due by 5:00pm
  • March 7, 2023 to May 1, 2023 - Public review and comment period
  • June 5, 2023 - Final applications are due
  • June and July 2023 - OHMVR Division review of final applications
  • August 7, 2023    Application Results - Intent to Award posted on the OHMVR Division’s website
  • August 8, 2023 to September 6, 2023 - Thirty (30) calendar day appeal period
  • September 7, 2023 - Final awards posted on the OHMVR Division’s website upon resolution of any appeals
