February 1, 2023 - Merced Police Department officials report on October 1, 2022 at approximately 9:26 A.M., Merced Police Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault involving a minor. Officers were able to identify the suspect in the assault as Rene Martinez (35) of Merced.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Martinez. Martinez is wanted for assault with the intent to commit a felony, oral copulation with a minor and lewd or lascivious acts with a minor.
