Precipitation totals for Mariposa, Oakhurst and Yosemite National Park: Less than 0.10"

March 1, 2023 - The National Weather Service Hanford Office reports precipitation totals for the remainder of the system moving through the area.

Most precipitation is set to fall through early afternoon.

Places that will still see snow are: the Grapevine, Tehachapi, California Hot Springs, and Lodgepole.

.SYNOPSIS...
The final in a series of storm systems will bring additional rain,
low elevation snow, and gusty winds today. Dry weather is 
forecast Thursday and Friday with freezing temperatures across the
San Joaquin Valley both mornings. Precipitation chances return 
this weekend, mainly from Fresno County northward.

.DISCUSSION...
Rain and snow continue to press through the CWA this morning as
can be seen on radar. Periods of heavy rainfall and snowfall are
possible through early morning hours. Precipitation today will
begin to dissipate from a north to south direction with portions
of the Kern County Mtn seeing some lingering showers late this
evening.

Winds this afternoon are expected to pick up for our normal gusty
areas through the Kern County Mtn and desert regions with gusts
nearing 55 mph possible. A brief dry spell will envelop the CWA 
come Thursday and Friday, but with the drier conditions comes 
much cooler temperatures for the morning hours. With this being 
said, below freezing temperatures are expected for much of the San
Joaquin Valley both Thursday and Friday morning. Models are in 
agreement that precipitation will start to make its way back into 
the area Saturday into Sunday bringing snow for the mountains and 
valley rain again.

Mountain obscuring IFR conditions in rain and snow. Local MVFR/IFR
in rain across the San Joaquin Valley. Elsewhere VFR conditions 
will prevail across the central CA interior for the next 24 hours.
