March 1, 2023 – Mariposa County Sheriff's Office officials report on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, Sheriff Briese just signed a local proclamation for a local emergency. It will now go to the board to be recognized and forwarded on to the Governor's Office.
As of this morning after coordination and communication with County Admin and Public Works, the Sheriff’s Office has implemented our Incident Command Team to run the incident due to the extreme public safety issues our communities are facing county wide as well as safety for emergency responders and storm response workers.
The Sheriff’s Office will be running the operational functions with the incident communicating and working with all county and State partners. A criteria list system is being created for vetting purposes and in order to prioritize calls for assistance, focusing on life safety emergencies first.
After the Public works assessment of the roadways, we initiated the road closures listed on our county website as well as social media.
We are still waiting for information if needed to update potential closures in the Northern County.
The Emergency Operations Center opened a few days ago will continue as the Support and Recovery side of the incident.
Please continue to use 911 for life safety emergencies only, for food, heat, water, or transportation issues please call 209-259-1332
