March 3, 2023 - Merced – Merced Police Department officials reported that Frank Serena Jr. (42) was arrested on weapon charges following a disturbance.
On Thursday, March 2nd, 2023, at 7:43 P.M., officers responded to the 200 block of W. 20th Street after receiving a 911 call of a female whispering for help and a disturbance heard in the background.
Officer Mitchell King arrived in the area and witnessed Serena run from the house while armed with a firearm. Serena was apprehended after a foot chase but was no longer in possession of the weapon. The firearm was discarded by Serena during the chase.
K-9 Zeke & Officer Zazueta responded and assisted officers with locating the firearm. Zeke is a certified firearms & ammunition detection canine.
Serena was arrested for weapon charges including being a convicted felon in possession of a loaded firearm, criminal threats, disorderly conduct, and resisting officers. He was booked into custody at the Merced County Jail.
