April 1, 2023 - Merced – Merced Police Department officials report that on March 30, 2023, Officer Lopez obtained information that a man and woman from Aromas were coming into Merced to sell narcotics. Gang Unit officers were able to set up surveillance and identify the vehicle arriving in the 1900 block of E. Childs Ave. Officers identified the occupants of the vehicle as Jack Hervey (19) and Helen Canter (19).

Officers obtained a search warrant for the vehicle, and they located approximately 1,000 fentanyl pills, cocaine, money, and several pairs of metal knuckles. Both Hervey and Canter were booked into Merced County Jail for possession of narcotics for sale and for conspiracy to commit a crime.
