April 13, 2023 - Plumas County Sheriff's Office officials announce the passing of retired Plumas County Sheriff Donald E. Stoy. 

We are deeply saddened to report the passing of retired Plumas County Sheriff Donald E. Stoy. Sheriff Stoy was a true pillar of our community, dedicating his life to serving and protecting the people of Plumas County for over three decades.

As we mourn his loss, we are also grateful for his years of service and his unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe. Sheriff Stoy was not only a skilled law enforcement officer, but also a compassionate leader who cared deeply about the well-being of those he served.

Sheriff Todd Johns said, “It was a privilege working with Sheriff Stoy during his time as Sheriff, and I can attest to his professionalism, integrity, and dedication. He was a true public servant, always putting the needs of his community first.
