TRAFFIC ADVISORY 
Rest Area, Lane & Ramp Closures 
Interstate 5 and State Routes 99 & 152 

April 14, 2023 - MERCED COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5 (I-5) and State Routes 99 (SR-99) and SR-152 for maintenance and construction operations. Work to occur as follows;

INTERSTATE 5:

• Full closure of the John C. Erreca Rest Areas on northbound and southbound I-5 beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, through September 2023.

       o ALTERNATE LOCATIONS: Motorists are advised to use either the Westley Rest Area (San Joaquin/Stanislaus County line) or the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area (Fresno/Kings County line). Electric vehicle charging stations are available at the Westley Rest Area.

• Alternating closures of the #1 (left) and #2 (right) lanes of northbound and southbound I-5 from McCabe Road to the Merced/Stanislaus County line for pavement work beginning Monday, April 17, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. (northbound) and 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (southbound.)

STATE ROUTE 99:

• Overnight, full on and off-ramp closures on northbound SR-99 at Childs Avenue for construction beginning Sunday, April 16, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
  
  
• Overnight, full on and off-ramp closures on southbound SR-99 at Childs Avenue for construction beginning Monday, April 16, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• Overnight, full on and off-ramp closures on northbound SR-99 at SR-140/East for construction beginning Sunday, April 16, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full on and off-ramp closures at SR-140 East on southbound SR-99 for construction beginning Sunday, April 16, through Friday, April 121, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• Long-term full off-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at G Street for construction through April 28, 2023.
  
  
• Full on-ramp closure from G Street to southbound SR-99 for construction beginning Sunday, April 16, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full on and off-ramp closures from northbound SR-99 at SR-59/Martin Luther King Jr. Way for construction beginning Sunday, April 16, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full on and off-ramp closures on southbound SR-99 at SR-59/Martin Luther King Jr. Way for construction beginning Sunday, April 16, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• Long-term full off-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at R Street for construction through April 28, 2023.
  
  
• Overnight, full on-ramp closure from R Street to southbound SR-99 for construction beginning Sunday, April 16, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full on-ramp closures from SR-140/59 (V Street) to northbound SR-99 for construction beginning Sunday, April 16, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.

• Full on and off-ramp closures from Applegate Road to northbound and southbound SR-99 for construction beginning Sunday, April 16, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. (northbound) and from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (southbound.)
  
  
• Full on-ramp closures from West Atwater Boulevard to northbound SR-99 for construction beginning Sunday, April 16, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full off-ramp closures from southbound SR-99 at West Atwater Boulevard for construction beginning Sunday, April 16, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full on-ramp closure from South Avenue to northbound SR-99 for pavement repair on Monday, April 17, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
  
  
• Full off-ramp closure from northbound SR-99 at Shanks Road for pavement repair on Monday, April 17, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
  
  
• Full on-ramp closure from Shanks Road to northbound SR-99 for pavement repair on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

STATE ROUTE 152:

• Alternating closures of the #1 (left) and #2 (right) lanes from Badger Flat Road to the Merced/Santa Clara County line for striping beginning Thursday, April 20, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
  
  
• Closure of the #1 (left) lane of eastbound and westbound SR-152 from Los Banos Creek to Badger Flat Road for curb/gutter/sidewalk work beginning Sunday, April 16, through Friday, April 21, 2023, from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.

Motorists should expect five to 10-minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, and/or materials and construction related issues.
