April 16, 2023 - Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials reported that at around 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, dispatchers with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a disturbance with gunshots at the intersection of Valentine and Princeton Avenues in Fresno. Deputies arrived and found a man in his 20s down on the ground with a gunshot wounds. Deputies administered CPR and worked with EMS to get him to the hospital where he would later die.
Homicide detectives and members of our Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation shows this was not a random shooting. The people involved knew each other and had some sort of feud.
A short distance away on Valentine Ave. sits the Fresno Cambodian Buddhist Temple. Here a large celebration was taking place with hundreds of guests. There is a possibility some of the people involved in the shooting ran away and into the event. No one there was injured and there is no specific information to show the celebration involved any of the suspects or victims. Detectives have conducted numerous interviews with people to try and identify anyone connected to the shooting.
