Monday, May 1 all hazard reduction burning will require a CAL FIRE burn permit in addition to a San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) burn permit in Madera County. For piles larger than 4x4, residents can obtain an LE-5 burn permit from any local CAL FIRE station.
Both burn permits are available at your local CAL FIRE station. You can also obtain a CAL FIRE burn permit online by visiting burnpermit.fire.ca.gov.

Property owners conducting hazard reduction burning are responsible for checking the burn day status. Burning is limited to grasses, brush, down trees and limbs and dead, dry vegetation.
Residents burning outside permit parameters could be cited.
Hazard Reduction Guidelines are listed on the permit and must be followed at all times.
There is no charge for burn permits.
