May 17, 2023 - There’s plenty of water in nearby Lakes McClure and McSwain, and recreation season is getting into full swing for the 2023 summer 
season.
“The weather is spectacular, and our campsites are going quickly. If you’re planning to come camping this spring or summer, we encourage you to make reservations now,” said Brooke Gutierrez, Director of MID Parks and Recreation.
“Whether it’s camping, hiking, boating, fishing or mountain-biking – or just enjoying a quiet picnic under a tree, we’ve got something for everyone,” she added.
The MID Parks Department now has annual vehicle and boat passes available for purchase online by clicking here. For quicker park entry, day use and boat day use passes can also be purchased online the evening and morning before a visit by clicking here.

Fireworks are planned for Saturday, July 1st at McClure Point on Lake McClure to celebrate American Independence. Additional information about the fireworks will be provided in the coming weeks.
Most boat launches are currently open. Check the current conditions here. The Barrett Cove Marina will be available for visitors in the coming months. The Barrett Cove day-use and swim area is open. The McClure Point day-use swim area will be open in the coming days.
The Splash-n-Dash Aqua Park will be returning to Lake McSwain and is expected to open June 3. The large inflatable water park is planning to expand its recreation obstacles this year. Splash n Dash will provide additional information in the coming weeks. More information can be found here. The Reel Deal Market & Café will be operating at both Lake McSwain and the Barrett Cove Recreation area on Lake McClure.
The Exchequer Mountain Bike Park remains open at the Barrett Cove Recreation Area and work is ongoing to expand the trails in the coming years.
“There is just so much going on up here right now – and so much planned,” said MID’s Gutierrez. “This is the time to be coming up and to be making your summer plans.”
