Homicide Investigation Update 

May 18, 2023 - Fresno Police Department officials report that shortly before 2:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, officers from the Northwest Policing District were dispatched to the Taco Bell at 4015 W. Clinton, to check the welfare of a male bleeding near the parking lot dumpsters. When the officers arrived, they found a 37-year-old Hispanic male, unresponsive and suffering from an injury to his neck. He was transported to CRMC, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. It was later determined that the victim sustained a single stab wound to the left side of his neck.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation.

Update May 17: The murder victim from Tuesday, May 16, 2023, has been identified as 37-year-old Jonathan Garcia.

Investigators determined that Garcia was part of the unhoused community and was assaulted behind the businesses of this shopping center. 

We are asking for the public’s help with information on this case.  Detectives are collecting video surveillance in the area and are asking anyone in the community to contact the Fresno Police Department if they have any information related to this case.
