Parolee Compliance Checks Reveal Narcotics and Firearms
June 3, 2023 - Merced – Merced Police Department officials report that on June 2, 2023, the Merced Police Departments Gang Violence Suppression Unit arrested a known gang member on parole for narcotic sales and child endangerment. Another parole search revealed an assault rifle and officers are still searching for the suspect.
On June 2, 2023, Merced PD Gang Officers assisted CDC Parole Agents and the Merced Sheriff Department with several parole compliance checks. Officers conducted a search in the 6700 block of California Street in Winton. As officers approached the front door of the home, parolee Johnell Mackey (28) slammed the door on officers. The officers were able to breach the door and they located Mackey trying to flush narcotics down the toilet.
Officers located packaging material, cocaine, and marijuana. Mackey was arrested for narcotic sales, child endangerment and for a violation of parole. He was booked into Merced County Jail.
Officers also conducted a compliance check in the 6800 block of Park Ave in Winton. Upon searching the home, officers located a fully automatic AK-47 rifle and several hundred rounds of ammunition.
The suspect in this case was identified as Alfredo Gutierrez (24). Gutierrez was not located during the parole check, and he is currently wanted for questioning related to this case.
