June 7, 2023 - The Lights on the Lake fireworks show in honor of American Independence is planned for Saturday, July 1.

lights“This show continues to get better each year. It’s a great event for families and friends, and a great way to celebrate our nation’s Independence,” said MID General Manager John Sweigard.

The fireworks display will begin at dusk or around 9 p.m. Recreation at Lakes McClure and McSwain is open all day with fireworks viewing areas open at McClure Point at 5 p.m. Entrance to Lake McClure will be through the MID Parks Entrance at 9090 Lake McClure Road, Snelling. Visitors are welcome to arrive early and spend the day at Lakes McClure and McSwain.

Only limited food and drinks will be available for purchase and visitors are encouraged to plan accordingly to meet their own needs.

All nighttime navigation laws apply and will be enforced for those who are boating during the fireworks show. 

The entrance fee to MID Parks is $20 per vehicle the day of the event. The event is cash-only and visitors are strongly encouraged to pre-purchase passes online here.

Only limited food and drinks will be available for purchase, cash only, and visitors are strongly encouraged to bring their own food and drinks.

No entrance to the viewing areas will be permitted after 8:30 p.m.

Those with camping reservations will pay $10: any additional camping vehicles will be charged $20. A limited number of basic campsites are still available.
