Dry and breezy conditions leading to moderate and borderline high-risk significant fire potential will continue across western Great Lakes into the Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast today, with these conditions lingering in some of these areas tomorrow and the Southeast Sunday. An upper-level low will track south across Ontario today and into the Great Lakes this weekend. An associated cold front will slide southeast through the northern Plains, Midwest, and western Great Lakes bringing showers and thunderstorms to much of the Midwest and Great Lakes reducing fire potential. As a cold front stalls along the central Gulf Coast into the southern Plains today, showers and thunderstorms are likely through the weekend on portions of the southern Plains into the Lower Mississippi Valley and along the Gulf Coast through Florida. Much of the Plains, Rockies, and central and northern Intermountain West will have daily chances of thunderstorms and showers into the weekend, including areas of severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. Areas of dry and breezy conditions will expand across the Southwest into the southern Great Basin, West Slope, and southern High Plains this weekend with increasing fire potential, while much of the Pacific Northwest is dry this weekend after areas of precipitation east of the Cascades today.
