June 13, 2023 - SONORA, California – With the issuance of Forest Order STF-16-2023-11 Temporary Motor Vehicle Use Restrictions, Cottonwood Road on the Mi-Wok and Groveland Ranger District is now open for public use.

                “We are extremely pleased to make Cottonwood Road available, but we urge those traveling the road to exercise extreme caution when traveling the roadway. There’s still construction going on roads extending from Cottonwood so heavy equipment will be on the roadway and we really hope folks understand that with the repairs, travel will not be business as usual,” explained Todd Newburger, Stanislaus National Forest Public Services Staff Officer.

                In addition to heavy equipment on the roadway, Newburger noted several segments of the road will be reduced to one lane, motorists should avoid riding near the shoulder and plan for longer travel times.
