June 15, 2023 - Merced County Sheriff's Office officials report on Sunday, June 4, 2023, deputies were dispatched to a business on Peach Avenue in Livingston for a stabbing.

When deputies arrived, they located a victim who had been stabbed multiple times. The victim provided deputies with a description of the suspect before she was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The suspect, identified as Jorge Luis Alvarez, fled the scene. Our Investigations Bureau took over the case and authored a warrant for Alvarez's arrest for attempted murder and various other charges.

Detective Griffin reached out to King City Police Department for assistance with bringing Alvarez into custody due to him being a resident of King City. Ultimately, Alvarez turned himself into KCPD.

Alvarez was transported to Merced County Jail and booked into our custody. Thankfully, the victim is expected to make a full recovery. Thank you to King City Police Department for their collaboration and great job by our deputies and Investigations Bureau for their work on this case.
