TRAFFIC ADVISORY 
Rest Area, Lane & Ramp Closures 
Interstate 5 and State Routes 59, 99 & 152 

June 23, 2023 - MERCED COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5 (I-5) and State Route 59 (SR-59), SR-99 and SR-152 for maintenance and construction operations.  Work to occur as follows;

  • Full closure of the John C. Erreca Rest Areas on northbound and southbound I-5 beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, through September 30, 2023.

           o ALTERNATE LOCATIONS:  Motorists are advised to use either the Westley Rest Area (San Joaquin/Stanislaus County line) or the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area (Fresno/Kings County line).  Electric vehicle charging stations are available at the Westley Rest Area.

  • Overnight, full on and off-ramp closures on northbound and southbound SR-99 at Childs Avenue for construction beginning Sunday, June 25, through Friday, June 30, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  • Full on and off-ramp closures on northbound and southbound SR-99 at SR140/East for construction beginning Sunday, June 25, through Friday, June 30, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

  • Full off-ramp closure at Winton Parkway to southbound SR-99 for landscaping operation on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

STATE ROUTE 152

  • Alternating lane closures on eastbound SR-152 at Arroyo Canal Bridge for pavement repairs beginning Sunday, June 25, through Friday, June 30, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m.
  • Alternating lane closures on westbound SR-152 at Fresno River Bridge for pavement repairs from 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. beginning Sunday, June 25, through Monday, June 26, and from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. beginning Monday, June 26, through Friday, June 30, 2023.

Motorists should expect five to 10-minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, and/or materials and construction related issues.
