TRAFFIC ADVISORY 
Rest Area, Lane & Ramp Closures 
Interstate 5 and State Route 99 

June 30, 2023 - MERCED COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5 (I-5) and State Route 99 for maintenance and construction operations.  Work to occur as follows;

INTERSTATE 5

• Full closure of the John C. Erreca Rest Areas on northbound and southbound I-5 beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, through September 30, 2023.

       o ALTERNATE LOCATIONS:  Motorists are advised to use either the Westley Rest Area (San Joaquin/Stanislaus County line) or the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area (Fresno/Kings County line).  Electric vehicle charging stations are available at the Westley Rest Area. 

STATE ROUTE 99

• Overnight, full on and off-ramp closures on northbound and southbound SR-99 at Childs Avenue for construction beginning Thursday, July 6, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
• Full on and off-ramp closures on northbound and southbound SR-99 at SR140/East for construction beginning Thursday, July 6, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp closure from southbound SR-99 at G Street for construction beginning Thursday, July 6, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
• Long-term, full on-ramp closure from G Street to southbound SR-99 for construction through November 30, 2023.
• Full off-ramp long-term closures from southbound SR-99 at SR-59/Martin Luther King Jr. Way for construction beginning Sunday, July 2, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
• Full on and off-ramp closures at SR-59/Martin Luther King Jr. Way on northbound SR-99 for construction beginning Thursday, July 6, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
• Full on-ramp closures from R Street to southbound SR-99 for construction beginning Thursday, July 6, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp closures from R Street to northbound SR-99 for construction beginning Thursday, July 6, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
• Full on-ramp closures from SR-140/59 (V Street) to northbound SR-99 for construction beginning Thursday, July 6, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp long-term closures from southbound SR-99 at SR-140/59 (V Street) for construction beginning Sunday, July 2, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
• Full on-ramp closures from 16th Street Undercrossing to northbound SR-99 for construction beginning Thursday, July 6, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
• Full on and off-ramp closures from southbound SR-99 to 16th Street Undercrossing for construction beginning Thursday, July 6, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
• Full on-ramp closures from East Atwater Boulevard to northbound SR-99 for construction beginning Wednesday, July 5, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp closures from southbound SR-99 to West Atwater Boulevard for construction beginning Wednesday, July 5, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full on and off-ramp closures at Applegate Road on northbound and southbound SR-99 for construction beginning Wednesday, July 5, through Friday, July 7, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp closure from southbound SR-99 at South Avenue for striping operations on Wednesday, July 5, through Thursday July 6, 2023, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Motorists should expect five to 10-minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, and/or materials and construction related issues.
