July 1, 2023 – At its meeting last month, the John C. Fremont Hospital Foundation voted to add Mike Wichmann to its board.

Wichman, a 30-year resident of Mariposa County and a retired Civil Engineer/Project Manager from the US Department of the Interior, National Park Service (NPS), has managed more than $170 million in NPS planning, design, and construction contracts during his 32-year career.

“I was fortunate to work with some of the best architects, engineers, and builders in the west,” said Wichmann.

“We are thrilled to have Mike join our team,” said Heather Bernikoff, president of the Foundation board. “Mike joins us at a time of transition for the Healthcare District, including its need to build the newest hospital in the Sierras by January 2030,”

“Among many talents and skills, he brings critical knowledge in large construction projects and construction management,” continued Bernikoff. “This will help the Foundation work with the Healthcare District’s team to look for places where philanthropy can make a difference for our community.”

“With the wisdom of 60 plus years on this ever-changing planet, it’s clear that there’s no bigger priority - value - in life than to stay healthy in body, mind, and soul,” said Wichmann. “I look forward to the opportunity to promote better healthcare facilities and services in our community.”
