July 11, 2023 - Tuolumne County Sheriff Office officials report on current scam calls occurring in the county.

We want to warn our community about a phone scam. Our Dispatch Center has received several reports from residents who have gotten calls from a number that’s identified as the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office. We believe that the scammers have duplicated our number. The caller claims to be a judge who says they will have the resident arrested because they have failed to show up as a witness and then asks for money to cover fines.

The Sheriff’s Office does not call residents asking for money. If you have received a scam call like this, please contact our Dispatch Center, (209) 533-5815.
