July 11, 2023 - Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office officials report that Sunday evening, deputies conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle for multiple vehicle code violations near Parks Avenue and Finney Road in Salida. The car was occupied by three adults and four juveniles, three who were unrestrained. During the stop, it was determined the driver was intoxicated, a passenger had a $600,000 warrant for his arrest, and a loaded firearm was in reach of the children.

At about 9:10 p.m., Deputy Larson stopped 26-year-old Fabian Gonzalez just north of Salida Park. During that time, he believed Gonzalez, the father to the kids in the car, was intoxicated due to his slurred speech and open alcohol containers. The California Highway Patrol conducted a DUI evaluation found Gonzalez was driving under the influence of alcohol and also had a suspended license.

One of the passengers, 20-year-old Marciano Orozco, who was on parole for carjacking, had a warrant for his arrest related to rape and oral copulation. 19-year-old Cali Canada was also inside the vehicle. During a vehicle search, deputies located a bag containing a loaded handgun, later determined to be stolen. The gun was within reach of both passengers and the three unbuckled children.

Due to the danger the children were in with their father driving drunk, being unrestrained, and the loaded firearm in the car, all three adults were arrested and booked at the Stanislaus County Jail for the following charges:

Fabian Gonzalez: Child endangerment, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving when license is suspended for DUI.

Marciano Orozco: Child endangerment, ex-felon in possession of a firearms, carrying a stolen loaded firearm, violation of parole, and warrant for rape and oral copulation.

Cali Canada: Child endangerment, carrying a stolen loaded firearm.

Gonzalez is still in custody, being held on $100,000 bail; Orozco is still in custody, being held without bail; Canada is still in custody, being held on $170,000 bail.
