July 11, 2023 - No new large fires were reported on Sunday. Nationally, 18 large fires have burned 141,245 acres in six states. Since January 25,630 wildfires have burned 731,382 acres across firefighters credit nifcthe United States. These numbers are below the 10-year average of 29,197 wildfires and 2,591,523 acres burned. 

Since May 8, the U.S. has mobilized a total of 1,473 personnel to Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec the CIFFC, which includes: fire suppression crews (1,129 personnel), 91 individual overhead, 92 smokejumpers and eight spotters, and 12 incident management teams (153 personnel).

Weather

Scattered thunderstorms, including severe thunderstorms, are expected across the Pacific Northwest through the Northern Rockies onto the northern High Plains, with isolated dry thunderstorms interspersed along and west of the Divide. Dry and windy conditions will develop in the Columbia Gorge, with dry and breezy conditions in the Cascade Gaps and parts of the Columbia Basin as well. Hot, dry, and unstable conditions will extend out of Texas into parts of the Desert Southwest. Scattered mixed wet and dry thunderstorms will develop from southeast Arizona through southern and central New Mexico. Severe thunderstorms are likely on the southern and central High Plains extending northeast into the Upper Midwest and southeast through the Deep South and central Gulf Coast. Showers and thunderstorms will also extend up the East Coast, with flooding likely in areas. Scattered showers will cotinine across western and southern portions of Alaska, with mostly below normal temperatures across the state except in far eastern Alaska and the southern panhandle.
