Hot, above normal temperatures will continue across much of the southern Plains, Texas, and Southwest, while expanding into the southern Great Basin and California. Locally breezy northwest winds are expected across the eastern Great Basin and West Slope, while isolated to scattered mixed wet and dry thunderstorms develop across southeast Arizona into southern New Mexico. Thunderstorms are likely across much of the Plains from the Canadian border to the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma then eastward through the Mississippi Valley and Appalachians to the East Coast. Severe thunderstorms are most likely from the southern High Plains into the Mid-Mississippi Valley. Above normal temperatures and low afternoon relative humidity will return to the Northwest today, but winds will be light. Seasonally warm and dry conditions will continue across eastern Interior with showers likely for western Alaska and the North Slope.
