July 15, 2023 - National Weather Service Hanford Office officials report an Excessive Heat Warning for most of Central California from 11:00 A.M. this morning until 8:00 P.M. Monday evening.

Dangerous heat will result in a major to extreme risk for heat-related illnesses for much of the population, especially those without effective cooling.

...AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM PDT THIS
MORNING UNTIL 8 PM PDT MONDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...High temperatures 112 to 117 degrees in the Kern County
  desert. Maximum temperatures 108 to 113 degrees in the San
  Joaquin Valley and Coastal Range. High temperatures 104 to 109
  degrees in the Lower Sierra foothills, Yosemite Valley, and Kern
  River Valley.

* WHERE...Most of Central California.

* WHEN...From 11 AM PDT this morning until 8 PM PDT Monday
  evening.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous heat will result in a major to extreme
  risk for heat-related illnesses for much of the population,
  especially those who are heat sensitive and those without
  effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, remain in an air-conditioned room, stay
out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
