July 16, 2023 - National Weather Service Hanford Office oficials report dangerous heat in most of Central California today will result in a major to extreme risk for heat-related illnesses for much of the population, especially those who are heat sensitive and those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.
Heat-related impacts are possible if simple precautions are not taken. Plan to take action to reduce time outdoors, stay hydrated, and remain in air-conditioned buildings.
As always, never, ever leave a child or pet in an enclosed automobile.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, remain in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
