FSTOPThe Mariposa County Arts Council is pleased to offer a series of free photography classes for residents of Mariposa County 55 years of age and older this fall and winter. F/STOP is a digital photography workshop focused on the artistic elements of photography using iPod Touch cameras.

Because of the popularity of this program, classes have been expanded and in addition to offering an introductory workshop, an extended workshop has been added for returning participants.

The Arts Council will offer two 4-week workshops for new participants that will explore the fundamentals of photography: vantage points, composition, lighting, and the elements of art. This first of these 4-week workshops will be held on Mondays, October 19, 26, November 2, and 9 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mariposa County Library. The second workshop for new participants will be held on Wednesdays, November 4, 11, 18, and December 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the new Human Services building in the Mariposa Room.

Additionally, the Arts Council will offer two 5-week workshops for returning participants. Returning participants will meet weekly but also be able to take home an iPod Touch camera for several weeks to conceptualize, photograph, and edit their own project. This course has five meetings and will first be offered on Wednesdays, December 2, 9, 16, January 6 and 13 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the new Human Services building in the Mariposa Room and then again on Mondays, January 25, February 1, 8, 22, and 29 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mariposa County Library.

For both workshops, all equipment is provided.

To register please contact the Mariposa County Arts Council’s office at: (209) 966-3155 or email: friedland@mariposaartscouncil.org. Space is limited.

This program is supported by the Fresno Regional Foundation and the California Arts Council’s Local Impact program.
