July 22, 2023 - Merced County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Wednesday afternoon, Deputies located a stolen vehicle parked at a business on Winton Way in Winton. The driver, identified as Calvin James Hinds, got into the vehicle and left the business. Deputies attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, however, Hinds did not stop, and a pursuit began.

Hinds eventually got out of the car and started running on foot. Sheriff Vern Warnke and Deputy De Los Santos spotted the subject and were able to take him into custody. He was ultimately booked for probation violation, evading a police officer, and receiving stolen property. Great work by all involved!
