Senator Rosen Voted In Favor Of Bipartisan Legislation To Improve Staffing Levels For Border Patrol & Increase Pay For Personnel

Senator Rosen Also Voted in Favor of Bipartisan  Legislation To Make Permanent The Pay Raise for Federal Wildland Firefighters Included In The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

July 22, 2023 - WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) has helped advance two bipartisan bills out of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs to strengthen border security and protect the pay raise for wildland firefighters. Senator Rosen voted to pass the bipartisan Border Patrol Enforcement Act to set adequate staffing levels for U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and increase pay for personnel. She also voted to pass the bipartisan Wildland Firefighter Paycheck Protection Act, which would help recruit and retain federal wildland firefighters in Nevada by making permanent the pay raise she helped secure in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

“Nevada’s wildland firefighters are heroes who routinely put themselves in harm’s way to protect our communities. Giving them the compensation they deserve for their heroic efforts helps recruit and retain more firefighters and keep our communities safe,” said Senator Rosen. “Today I was proud to help advance bipartisan legislation that’ll make permanent the long-overdue pay raise we secured in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for our wildland firefighters.”

“I also helped advance bipartisan legislation to strengthen border security by giving frontline personnel the staffing resources and pay increase they need to do their jobs effectively,” she continued. “We must give them the resources necessary to continue securing our border and ensuring there’s an orderly and humane process.”
