Yosemite-Mariposa Integrated Regional Water Management (Y-M IRWM) Outreach Committee Hosts Community Learning Program on Well Water and Water Saving Technologies – Public Health and Water Efficiency Experts are among the presenters

On Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 9 a.m. in the Red Bud Room of the Fairgrounds, during the Mariposa Home Show, the Y-M IRWM Outreach Committee will host an educational program focused on water. Due to the severe nature and length of the drought as well as the potential for a historic El Niño, water is a concern for many. Wells and springs are running dry, and the new Public Health water tank program is being used by many citizens. The program will discuss with the community how their wells work, water quality issues, what options there are if a well has a problem, water storage and a range of affordable conservation tools.

The speakers will be Dave Conway, Director, Environmental Health Division, Mariposa County Public Health Department and Regina Hirsch, Principal at Sierra Watershed Progressive. Master Gardeners will also be available to answer questions. There will be small group breakout sessions at the end of the meeting where community members can get more detailed questions asnwered. This community education program on water is free and all interested members of the public are invited to attend. Water efficiency kits will be available to attendees, one per household, while supplies last. The water efficiency kits have been generously donated by Foster’s ACE hardware. If you cannot attend this program, the Y-M IRWM Outreach Committee will be co-hosting a booth at the Home Show with the Mariposa Master Gardeners. Educational materials and individuals to answer your questions will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Fairgrounds are located just south of Mariposa on Highway 49. Bring your well and water conservation questions!
