July 27, 2023 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, just before 4:00 a.m., Southeast officers were dispatched to the 4200 Block of East Grant Avenue for an 11-round Shot Spotter alert. When officers arrived, they located 34-year-old Robert Garza, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers and paramedics performed life-saving measures, but Garza was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Homicide detectives determined that the victim was involved in a disturbance with another person when he was fatally shot. The motive for this shooting has not been determined, and investigators are asking for the public's help with any information leading to this fatal shooting.

This was the 22nd murder of the year. This time last year, we had 36 murders.
