As hot temperatures and dry conditions continue around the country, our firefighters and support personnel need your help. Prevent wildfires by knowing how to safely use outdoor equipment & vehicles, and by being aware of any fire restrictions in place that may affect activities like campfires and barbecues. Breezy west to southwest winds will develop across the northern and western Great Basin into eastern Oregon with areas of elevated fire weather conditions. Hot, dry, and unstable conditions are forecast for much of Texas into Louisiana with moderate to high-risk significant fire potential. Scattered to widespread, mainly wet, thunderstorms will develop over Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and eastern Wyoming as monsoon moisture surges northward. Isolated to scattered mixed wet and dry thunderstorms will develop on the periphery of the surge over New Mexico and from southeast California into eastern Nevada, southeast Idaho, western Wyoming, and south- central Montana. Significant fire potential will remain moderate for much of the West outside the moisture surge, but lower significantly within the surge. Scattered thunderstorms, some severe, will develop across much of the Plains into the Lower and Mid-Mississippi Valley. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop along the East Coast as well, must numerous over Florida. Very warm temperatures will continue over much of Alaska and isolated thunderstorms are likely to develop in the afternoon across the eastern Interior and Copper Basin.
