Sex Offender Compliance Checks Net Several Arrests 

August 3, 2023 – Merced Police Department officials report that on August 2, 2023, the department teamed up with the Merced County Probation Department, CDCR Division of Adult Parole Operations, Atwater Police Department and Livingston Police Department to conduct compliance checks on registered sex offenders in Merced County.

The compliance checks resulted in numerous arrests for failing to register as a sex offender, outstanding warrants, violation of probation, violation of parole, child endangerment, unlawful firearm possession, possession of methamphetamine and possession of fictitious checks.

In the city of Merced there are over 300 registered sex offenders.  It is the responsibility of law enforcement to not only register the offenders but also to ensure they remain in compliance with their court ordered conditions. 

The Merced Police Department is committed to keeping the community safe and will continue to do so through partnerships with other local law enforcement agencies.
