August 5, 2023 - Merced – Merced Police Department officials report that officers investigated a shooting that left a 17-year-old injured by gunfire.

On Thursday, August 3rd, 2023, at 10:54 P.M., officers responded to the 1200 block of Orion Court for several reports of gunshots fired in the area.

Officers discovered evidence of a shooting and recovered a firearm and shell casings in the area. A 17-year-old male sustained gunshot wounds to his face and back. He was transported to an area trauma unit for medical treatment. His injuries are described as serious.
