August 5, 2023 - Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Thursday evening just after 5:30 p.m., one of our deputies responded to a call at a residence Placer County Sheriff Office logoon McClintock Lane, in Auburn. The victim had been subjected to a violent assault, and her cell phone and car/house keys were taken by a male intruder.

The responding team of deputies acted swiftly and began their search for the suspect, receiving information that he might be located in a residence in Rocklin. Upon arriving at the location, they spotted the suspect, and despite ordering him to stop, he fled inside the residence. Before deputies learned the suspect had barricaded himself inside, they observed an empty box for a high-powered rifle, in addition to an empty holster. Recognizing the potential danger, our deputies called for crisis negotiators and received assistance from Roseville PD/Rocklin PD’s SWAT Team.

Through their teamwork and coordination, our deputies successfully apprehended the suspect, who was identified as 24-year-old Spencer Christian Burgler. He now faces charges of first-degree robbery, obstructing/resisting a peace officer, contempt of court, and corporal injury.

We are grateful for the dedication and cooperation demonstrated by our law enforcement team during this challenging situation. The successful resolution of this case exemplifies the importance of teamwork in ensuring the safety and security of our community.
