August 13, 2023 - Fresno Police Department officials report that the southeast DST officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Ventura Avenue and 9th Street for a vehicle code violation. During the stop, consent was obtained from the driver to conduct a search of the vehicle. As the front passenger exited the vehicle, a firearm was observed in plain view. He was found to be a 17-year-old and a gang associate.

All occupants of the vehicle were juveniles, ages 15-17 years old. It was determined the firearm belonged to the front passenger. He was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Justice Center on several firearm related charges. The driver was cited for a vehicle code violation. The remaining juveniles were released to guardians.
