August 17, 2023 - Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office officials report that detectives are investigating a shooting that happened just after midnight on August 15th in the 13800 block of Tulloch Road in Jamestown. A 56-year-old man was house-sitting at a friend’s home and told investigators that he heard a gunshot outside. The man grabbed a rifle and went outside where he saw a truck parked in the driveway and heard another shot.
The man told investigators that he believed he was being attacked and fired several shots back. The shooting ended with the man near the truck suffering non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital and discharged after a few hours. Detectives believe this shooting is an isolated incident and a case of mistaken identity.
The man who was in the driveway and fired the initial shot turned out to be a concerned neighbor. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
