August 25, 2023 - Merced – Merced Police Department officials report that on August 24, 2023, at approximately 3:44 P.M., Merced Police Officers arrested two men during a traffic stop for outstanding warrants. A loaded firearm and narcotics were found in the vehicle.

On August 24, 2023, Gang Officers Prevostini and Centeno conducted a traffic stop near Yosemite Parkway and Highway 99. During the traffic stop, one of the passengers was identified as Nemorio Vasquez (51). Nemorio was found to be wanted by CDC Parole and upon searching his property, a loaded handgun was found.

A second passenger was identified as Thomas Vasquez (44) and he was found to be wanted in Santa Clara County on a Post Release Community Supervision violation. Thomas was also found to possess 6 grams of methamphetamine.

Nemorio was booked into Merced County Jail for his warrant and firearms related charges. Thomas was booked into Merced County Jail for his warrant and narcotics charges.
