The Oakhurst Library will be hosting local author and hiker, Tony Krizan, on Saturday, October 17th, 2015.  This event will be held in the Library’s Community Room and it will be from 10:30 a.m. to Noon.

Tony will present a brand new slide show featuring his personal adventures within the remote canyons of Death Valley.  This 30-minute show will introduce his audience to the centuries of hidden history in Death Valley.

Just a few of the treasurers to be found in Death Valley are:

  • Polished canyon walls
  • Petroglyphs
  • Fossils
  • Abandoned gold mines

Death Valley is an ancient desert at the California-Nevada border.  It is roughly 10,000 – 12,000 years old and was given its English name during the Gold Rush after 13 pioneers perished from an early wagon train trying to its way to the Gold in California.

Tony’s slide show will include:

  • Darwin Falls in the west side of the valley
  • Petroglyphs in Marble Canyon, north of Stovepipe Wells
  • Panamint Dunes located in the north end of the valley
  • Fall Canyon next to Titus Canyon

If you have any questions about this special presentation, please call the Library at: 559-683-4838 or visit: oakhurstfobl.com.
