TRAFFIC ADVISORY 
Rest Area, Lane & Ramp Closures 
Interstate 5 and State Routes 33, 99, 140, 152, & 165 

September 16, 2023 - MERCED COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5 (I-5), State Route 33 (SR-33), SR-99, SR-140, SR-152, and SR-caltrans logo165 for maintenance and construction operations. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:

INTERSTATE 5

  • Full closure of the John C. Erreca Rest Areas on northbound and southbound I-5 beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, through December 30, 2023.

   o ALTERNATE LOCATIONS: Motorists are advised to use either the Westley Rest Area (San Joaquin/Stanislaus County line) or the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area (Fresno/Kings County line). Electric vehicle charging stations are available at the Westley Rest Area.

  • One-way traffic control from Quinto Bypass to Snyder Road for drainage work on Monday, September 18, 2023, from 7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
