October 19, 2015 - TRACY, Calif. — U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) will honor Korean War Veterans with an “Ambassador for Peace” Medal Ceremony this Veterans Day, November 11, 2015 in Tracy. Rep. Denham is hosting the event, which begins at 3 p.m., in collaboration with the Honorable Han Dong-man, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in San Francisco. The event will take place at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts, located at 715 Central Avenue in Tracy.

The “Ambassador for Peace” medal is bestowed in an expression of appreciation from the people of the Republic of Korea for those who served during the Korean War. The medal will be awarded to living veterans as well as posthumously to family members.

Veterans or family members of veterans interested in applying for this distinguished award may contact Rep. Denham’s Modesto office at (209) 579-5458.

The ceremony will include remarks from the consul general, the singing of the United States national anthem, an honor guard, taps and a benediction.

Rep. Denham this week signed on to the Korean War Veterans Memorial Wall of Remembrance Act of 2015, which calls for adding a Wall of Remembrance to the planned Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The Wall will honor 36,574 US soldiers killed in the "Forgotten" War by name and honor MIAs, POWs and KATUSAS by number.
