October 1, 2023 - Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office officials report that in the early overnight hours of Saturday, September 30th, 2023, patrol deputies were stanislaus county sheriffs office logodispatched to the 800 block of Inyo Ave. in South Modesto regarding a domestic disturbance.

Upon their arrival, law enforcement located an adult female with unspecified life-threatening injuries. Paramedics tried to administer life-saving measures and transported the victim to a local area hospital.  The patient unfortunately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The Stanislaus County S/O Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.  Modesto resident Zachary Morris, 38, was located and detained near the immediate crime scene.  He is the victim’s son and has been arrested for homicide.

A forensic autopsy will be completed early next week to determine cause and manner of death.  The Sheriff’s Office is still awaiting positive identification of the victim before announcing her name.  Our investigation is still acting and ongoing.  We will be able to share additional details as they become available.

Tipsters are encouraged to contact Detective Espinoza should they have information to share.  He can be reached by calling 209-567-4466.  Stanislaus County Area Crime Stoppers can also be contacted for anonymous reports by calling 1-866-60-CRIME.  A free mobile app can also be downloaded at P3Tips.com.  Tipsters could be eligible for a cash reward.
