Dr. Mosher succeeds Dr. Robert Ryder, who resigned from his position as County Health Officer on October 16th to pursue other professional opportunities.
Merlin Jones, Chairperson of the Board of Supervisors, said “We are delighted that Dr. Mosher has agreed to serve as the County’s Health Officer on an Acting basis until a permanent replacement can be found. Dr. Mosher’s many years of service to the County and his vast knowledge of the Public Health field will serve the residents of Mariposa County very well.”
In his capacity as Acting County Health Officer, Dr. Mosher will oversee a Department that protects and promotes the health, safety, and environment of the community by preventing and controlling diseases, environmental hazards, injury and disability, and educates and promotes healthier lifestyles.
Dr. Mosher earned his Bachelor in Science degree from Notre Dame University and his Medical degree from New York Medical College. Prior to his work at Mariposa County, Dr. Mosher served in the Peace Corps, worked for the State of Georgia and served for eleven years with the Merced County Health Department.
