On September 26th, the Oakhurst Library hosted their 2nd Annual Authors’ Faire and it was a very successful event. There were many literary professionals talking to the public and exchanging ideas with each other.
The event was held in the Community Room and all of the registrants were at tables greeting book lovers, would-be writers and other published authors. There were 26 authors, 2 illustrators, 2 publishers (Oak Tree Press in Hanford and HBE Publishing in Clovis), and 2 coaching groups looking to enroll new members.
The published authors ranged across all genres: children’s fiction, fantasy/sci-fi, historical fiction, mystery and non-fiction authors. The public was invited to mill around, talk to these professionals, and ask questions about their books and their writing experiences.
Friends of the Oakhurst Library helped prepare the room and advertising the event in their newsletter. Dale Rushing, our librarian, greeted people as they arrived and assisted the public with finding their way around the room.
It was such a success, that the Library is planning on repeating the event in 2017.
If this event was any evidence, next year’s event will be even more exciting.
