Chocolate Soup's Annual Christmas Open House

October 30, 2023 – You are invited to one of Mariposa's most anticipated events! This is the weekend to see the store transformed for the 
Christmas Season! Sample our food products! Refreshments will be served! Come try our "Chocolate Soup" fondue!
The planning started 9 months ago, as I searched in catalogs and at the gift show for the best Christmas decor and ornaments, I could find to appoint each room. Creating a vision for each look is always fun but challenging. I select ornaments that build on themes from past years, knowing you can add to your collections. Vintage items are saved throughout the year to add to the treasure hunt of this weekend and the season. Holiday decor is carefully chosen with quality and price in mind. This year I hope you will be inspired by the curated collections Chocolate Soup is showcasing in the store.
The Living Room will feature "Christmas Traditions". Classic red, green, and white decor is shown in the furniture, wall decor, and ornaments. Red cardinals add to the festivity.
The Back Porch will be aglow portraying "Oh, Holy Night" with silver, white & soft greens. The story of the first Christmas will be shown in ornaments and nativity sets. My sister, Lisa, has been busy creating new pieces of her pottery that make wonderful gifts. Wait till you see her new ceramic Christmas trees!
The Kitchen is the place to find the cutest gingerbread themed ornaments and decor. Mama Bear's Kitchen Co. hot cocoa & spiced chai drink mixes, bombs, and scone mixes are ready for holiday gift giving and treating your family! Fun vintage kitchen items and our specialty foods will be in stock.
The Cabin will be transformed into a snowy village of wooden houses with snowflakes overhead and whimsical woodland critters.
The Potting Shed will be decked out with wonderful new winter pots for your plants, outdoor metal decor, and one of our favorite birds; the chickadee!
The Colonial Woodwrights Cottage will showcase my husband, Michael's, handcrafted one-of-a-kind snowmen, trees, and whimsical decor and his unique style of furniture and home accents. Holiday felted animals will join his wooden ornaments on the tree!
Many of Mariposa's wonderful downtown shops will be participating in the Open House weekend, too!
Please note that we will be CLOSED 10/29-11/2, as our elves will be hard at work transforming the store.
Mark your calendars for other upcoming events:
Main Street Mariposa's "Earlier Than the Bird!" on Saturday November 9th. Shop before regular store hours in your PJ's for deals from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.! Coffee and breakfast treats will be served at participating locations!
Shop Small Business, Saturday, November 25th, and support local, small businesses!
Merry Mountain Christmas, Saturday December 9th. From 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. we will be hosting a fundraiser for our grandson Ansel's preschool, Mariposa Preschool Co-op. Parents will be selling cups of hot chocolate donated by Mama Bear's Kitchen Co & our Spiced Cider, as well as raffle tickets for:
- $50 & $25 Gift Certificates for Chocolate Soup
- Gift Basket donated by Chocolate Soup
- Ansel's Papa, Michael of the Colonial Woodwrights, will be donating a wooden, handcrafted snowman.
Afterwards, stay in town for the Christmas Parade, Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa's Village at the Courthouse!
